Getting Started
It takes about five minutes. No applications, no approvals, no waiting. Here's exactly what to expect.
Enter your email address and we'll send you a 6-digit code. No passwords to remember. Enter the code and you're in.
If you're returning, the same email gets you right back into your account.
Tell us your name, email, date of birth, and the school you've been accepted to. If you're under 18, we'll ask for a parent or guardian's name and email — they'll manage the account and funds.
Everything is kept private. Only your name and school appear on your public page.
We give you five guided prompts — things like “What school did you get into and why does it matter to you?” and “What challenges have you faced getting to this point?”
There's no blank page. Just answer from the heart. Your story is what connects with the people who want to back you.
There's also an optional sixth prompt if you want to share anything else about your journey.
List what you need funded: tuition, housing, books, supplies, transportation — whatever education-related expenses you're facing. We start with three default items (Tuition, Housing, Books) and you can add up to two more.
Set the dollar amount for each item. Your total goal is calculated automatically. You can edit these anytime.
This is what makes BackThis different — contributors see exactly where their money is going. Not just a number, but real items.
Stripe is how you get paid. Click “Set up payments” in your dashboard and complete Stripe's onboarding process. It takes a few minutes — they'll ask for your identity, bank account, and a few standard verification details.
If you're under 18, your parent or guardian completes this step. They'll be the legal account holder.
Once Stripe verifies your account, your page goes live automatically. Every dollar contributed goes straight to your bank.
We give you pre-written messages for text, Instagram, X, and email. Just tap, copy, and send. You don't have to write anything — we've done that part for you.
Share with your family, friends, teachers, coaches, church community — anyone who's been part of your journey. You'd be surprised how many people are waiting for a way to show up for you.
