When someone backs your page, they're asked at checkout whether they want to cover transaction fees. The toggle is on by default, and most backers leave it on.
If they cover fees (most common): on a $100 backing, the backer pays $108.45. You receive the full $100, BackThis takes its $5 platform fee, and Stripe's processing (~2.9% + 30¢) is paid by the backer.
If they opt out: on a $100 backing, the backer pays $100. You receive approximately $91.80 after the 5% platform fee and Stripe's processing fees come out of the donation.
Funds are deposited directly into your bank account. We never hold, delay, or touch your money. If you're under 18, your parent or guardian manages the payment account.
There's no minimum goal and no all-or-nothing threshold. Every dollar contributed is yours to keep, regardless of whether you reach your full goal.
