Permitted uses

BackThis may be used for raising funds for education-related expenses including tuition, housing, books, supplies, transportation, and other costs directly related to attending an educational institution. Users must accurately represent their educational situation, school acceptance status, and intended use of funds.

Prohibited uses

The following are strictly prohibited: fraud, misrepresentation, or deceptive fundraising practices; creating pages for non-education purposes; using contributed funds for personal expenses unrelated to education; impersonation of students, schools, or guardians; creating multiple pages for the same educational expenses; collecting funds under false pretenses; exploiting minors or using their stories without consent; any activity that violates federal, state, or local law.

Minor-specific protections

Pages created by users under 18 require guardian consent. Guardians are responsible for monitoring the page content and ensuring its accuracy. BackThis reserves the right to remove any content that may exploit, endanger, or misrepresent a minor.

Enforcement

BackThis reserves the right to investigate suspected violations, suspend or terminate accounts, withhold payouts pending investigation, and report illegal activity to law enforcement. We may take action with or without prior notice when we reasonably believe a violation has occurred.
